June 12 - 13th, 2010
Downtown Criterium –
criterium: A criterium is a
multi-lap race held on a small course entirely closed to traffic. The
course is usually less than 1 mile in length. It is also known as a
crit.
Downtown Mt. Pleasant is the place to be on Saturday, June 12th! As part
of our weekend cycling celebration, we are hosting a criterium on a .83
mile closed course that runs through the heart of the downtown shopping
district. This 6 corner loop with long straight-aways will allow
seasoned riders to really fly which means great viewing excitement for
all spectators. With all of the festivities taking place on Saturday
throughout the day, the streets are sure to be packed. Don’t miss your
chance to be a part of the fun and excitement!
Road Race –
road race: A road course may be from
place to place, around a circuit, out and back, or any combination of
these. The course shall not cross itself. All competitors must keep to
the right of the center line or enforcement line, but may pass on either
side of another rider. Riders shall, of their own responsibility,
conform to all traffic regulations in force in the area
where the race is held.
While Mt. Pleasant has historically been a stop on the DALMAC bike tour,
it has never hosted a cycling race of this magnitude. Isabella County
really gets a chance to shine on Sunday, June 13th as riders take part
in the Pro Road Race (which will cover roughly 106 miles) and the 46 Mile Road
Race. Pro Riders will race through almost
every community in Isabella County, including Mt. Pleasant, Shepherd,
Winn, Blanchard, Beal City, the Village of Lake Isabella, Weidman, and
Rosebush. Experience the rolling farmland, the picturesque natural
scenery, lakes, streams, and the mighty Chippewa River! And riders
begging for a challenging course will find it when they encounter our
largest hills on the west side of the County. This course has all the
ingredients to become one of Michigan’s finest!
All registered riders will receive a FREE Le Tour T-shirt!
