128 MILE/206 KM COURSE

Sunday, June 12th 10:00 AM Isabella County

2011 Map (PDF)
Pro Race Map There is nothing like spending a day in a stage race like the Tour de France. The Men's Pro Road Race starts with a line up just after 9:30 AM when the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe will provide a Native Blessing and Smudge Ceremony for safe travels around the county. At 10:00 AM the racers head due east through the Isabella Indian Reservation before turning right to head south toward the Village of Shepherd. The route heads west through Shepherd before heading north again toward CMU's Campus. Racers continue west briefly before heading south on Whiteville Rd with a nice little 6% incline just to get the quads burning in preparation for coming attractions. Racers will dip down to the south to Fremont Road before heading north to the first SPRINT on the short incline in front of Morbark Industries on Winn Road. After the SPRINT, racers make a left turn to Blanchard Rd through very picturesque country with lakes and curves before heading through the wide roadways in the town of Blanchard. A right turn heading north on Costabella Road brings racers to the first KOM with a two mile stretch of rollers averaging 6 to 7% inclines. Turning right on M-20, racers head back east for 5 miles past the 50 mile point before turning left on Coldwater Rd for the first FEED ZONE at a 4% incline. Law enforcement vehicles will be assisting racers in crossing M-20. Racers then turn right and take a circular route up to Beal City and back, past the curving roads around Colwater Lake. A right turn onto Pickard Road presents the second KOM which includes a quarter mile stretch at a 9% grade. After the KOM, a right turn takes the riders north through the town of Weidman, at the 75 mile point. Heading into the northern part of the county north on Brinton Road brings racers to Coleman Rd where they will turn right for a long slow ascent. Turning left on Whiteville Rd brings a series of punchy rollers and the second FEED ZONE before turning right on Herrick Road. Looping south from Mission to Coleman Rd racers will encounter bumpy, patchy pavement before heading north on Leaton Rd. The route turns southeast to south on Loomis Rd at this point and then takes a sharp right over the overpass of 127 North before a sharp left at the Village of Rosebush. Once the turn is made the next SPRINT comes into view just south of the school in Rosebush. Just past this is the 125 mile point with only three miles left. Law enforcement again stops traffice on M-20 before racers ramp up the hill to the Start/Finish Line. Law enforcement vehicles will be leading this race along with a lead, wheels, follow and two additional wheels cars. An emergency services vehicle will follow behind the racers. USA Cycling Officials will be stationed at KOMs and SPRINTs. Township Fire Trucks will be positioned at key intersections as well.
